Preparing For Your Baby’s Arrival

Coach Courtney’s tips for lowering anxiety during pregnancy

While you’re waiting for your baby to arrive, it’s completely normal to experience feelings of stress and anxiety. There can be a lot of uncertainty and nervousness when it comes to thinking about labor, or imagining life with a newborn, especially if you’ve never had children before. LunaYou Mama, Ada, experienced some of these feelings before bringing her baby, Chloe, into the world.

Ada was able to relieve some of these feelings by preparing Chloe’s nursery before she was born. Coach Courtney says that when you’re experiencing feelings of anxiety, it’s important to be aware of what is in your control, and what is not. You can’t control when your baby will arrive, but you can be prepared for it! Decorating your nursery can be a great way to get excited about your baby’s arrival, and a fun way to spend time with your circle of support!

In addition to preparing your nursery, there are plenty of other options for reducing stress during pregnancy. One of the biggest ways to be prepared for labor is to create a birth plan. Birth plans are typically a written document explaining your preferences during the birthing process. It’s important to be aware that birth can be unpredictable, and some things may not go according to plan, but making your preferences known can make your labor experience more comfortable.

Other ways to decrease pregnancy related anxiety include staying active, practicing mindfulness, and keeping a journal. Want to learn more about managing stress and anxiety during pregnancy? Check out our Facebook Live with Sandra Victorino!
